St. Stephen Prayer Quilters

What We Offer

Our mission is to help comfort and give warmth to those that are ill, are having surgery or cancer treatments or are recovering from major trauma. The quilts are blessed by Father Elmer prior to being delivered to the recipient. We also donate over a dozen baby quilts each year to the St. Vincent de Paul pantry here at St. Stephen, so that a new baby can have something warm and cozy. A blanket can warm the body, but a quilt warms the soul. Our members try to make each quilt special for the recipient. Everyone coming into our work area stops and places their hand on the quilt being worked on and offers a prayer for the healing and comfort of the receiving person. Since the group was organized, it has donated over 30 adult and two dozen baby quilts and eight quilts were given to Valley Center fire victims. We are dedicated to the art of quilting, love what we do for our parish, and welcome anyone interested in quilting to join us.

We meet in a nice sewing room that has space to set up large tables for sewing and getting quilts ready for a quilting machine that our group has ready access to. We also have storage space for materials and supplies. Our meeting location is conveniently located near the church. We welcome donations of fabrics and money toward the purchase of supplies.

Meets: Twice a month, 2nd & 4th Wednesday, 9:30am - 12:00pm
